Most surgeries can be performed on the same day as the consultation. This assumes your pet has been fasted appropriately and there are no other health issues that need to be addressed first. Having surgery on the same day as your consultation saves you time, and saves your pet the stress of an extra visit to the hospital.

You can also choose to schedule surgery for a later date if you prefer. Another date may be more convenient and allow you to be home for your pet. Extra preparations or tests may be required prior to anaesthesia and treatment. For example, a course of medication, preoperative intravenous fluids, or diagnostic tests for other conditions.

We will discuss this with you when you book an appointment, but If you know your pet won’t be having surgery on the day of consultation please let us know. It gives us the time to treat other patients.
